What it is
The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) is the national regulatory body overseeing the building and construction industry in Malta. It is mandated to enforce building standards, issue construction clearances, promote sustainable practices, and license contractors and technical personnel across the sector. Established in 2021 through the Building and Construction Authority Act, the agency consolidated several legacy oversight bodies to overhaul safety regulations following widespread public outcry over residential building collapses.
