Malta · founded 2026

What it is

The Commission for Appointments and Discipline in Administrative Tribunals is a statutory public body in Malta established under Part IVA of the Administrative Justice Act (Cap. 490). Its mandate is to ensure the independence, integrity, and efficiency of specialized administrative tribunals by overseeing the merit-based selection, appointment, and disciplinary regulation of tribunal chairs and members. Created following rule-of-law recommendations by the Venice Commission to reduce executive discretion over administrative justice, the body is chaired by a retired judge or magistrate alongside four appointed members with expertise in public administration and governance.
