Ministry of EnergyGovernment

Moldova

What it is

The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Moldova is the central government body responsible for energy security, market regulation, and green transition policies. Its mandate focuses on diversifying energy supplies, developing renewable energy sources, enhancing energy efficiency, and synchronizing national electricity and natural gas systems with the European Union. Originally established in 2001 and later dissolved into larger ministries, it was formally re-established as a standalone ministry in February 2023 in response to regional geopolitical supply shocks and acute energy crises.
