What it is
The Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia is the unicameral national legislative body of North Macedonia, responsible for enacting laws, adopting the national budget, ratifying international treaties, and providing oversight of the executive branch. Its foundational roots trace back to the Anti-Fascist Assembly for the National Liberation of Macedonia (ASNOM) established in 1944 during World War II. The modern sovereign legislature was formally constituted in 1991 following the country's declaration of independence from Yugoslavia.
