What it is

Operating as a state-owned enterprise under Polish public broadcasting legislation, its public mandate is to deliver news, cultural programming, educational content, and regional information. Launched on February 15, 1927, it was the first regional station established by Polish Radio outside Warsaw, and that same year it pioneered the live daily broadcast of the historic St. Mary's trumpet call (Hejnał Mariacki).
