What it is
Telewizja Polska (TVP) is Poland's national public service television broadcaster, operating as a state-owned joint-stock company. Governed by the Broadcasting Act of 1992, its mandate is to provide comprehensive information, cultural programming, and educational content to the Polish public and diaspora. Originating from experimental tests in the late 1930s, TVP launched regular programming in 1952 during the communist era before separating from Polish Radio and transitioning into a public corporation in 1993.
