Algarve Local Health UnitState-owned enterprise

The Algarve Local Health Unit (Unidade Local de Saúde do Algarve, E.P.E.) is a public healthcare institution within Portugal's National Health Service (SNS). Its mandate is to provide integrated primary, specialized hospital, and palliative healthcare across all 16 municipalities of the Algarve region. It was formally established by Decree-Law No. 102/2023 and became operational on January 1, 2024, merging the former Algarve University Hospital Centre (CHUA) with the region's three primary healthcare clusters.
