What it is
The Cabinet of the Prime Minister of Portugal (Gabinete do Primeiro-Ministro) is the direct executive support staff and administrative office assisting the head of the Portuguese government. Its mandate is to provide political, technical, strategic, and logistical advisory services to the Prime Minister and coordinate governmental actions across ministries. While the modern office of Prime Minister was formally established under the 1976 democratic Constitution following the Carnation Revolution, the underlying role of head of government originally traces back to 1834 during the Constitutional Monarchy.
