Portugal

What it is

The Centro Jurídico do Estado is a central public entity operating within the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Portugal, responsible for providing specialized legal counsel, drafting support for legislative procedures, and judicial representation for the Government and public administration. It was officially created by Decree-Law in October 2024 to reinforce and professionalize legal governance across the state apparatus. In doing so, it succeeded and expanded the responsibilities of the former Legal Competence Center of the State (JurisAPP).
