What it is
The Embassy of Spain in Canada is the primary diplomatic mission representing the Kingdom of Spain to Canada, located in Ottawa. Its mandate is to foster bilateral relations, advance mutual economic, political, and cultural cooperation, and provide consular services to Spanish and Canadian citizens. Established in 1953 following the formalization of diplomatic ties between the two nations, it saw its first resident ambassador appointed that same year. Spain's official diplomatic presence in Canada expanded significantly from an earlier network of consulates that had operated since the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
