What it is
The Ministry of Industry and Tourism is the ministerial department of the Government of Spain responsible for proposing and executing state policy regarding industrial development, competitiveness, and tourism promotion. Its institutional lineage traces back to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry created in 1928, though the portfolio has repeatedly merged and separated from energy and commerce over the decades. In late 2023, it was re-established as a standalone ministry dedicated specifically to industry and tourism under the third cabinet of Pedro Sánchez.
