What it is
The Ministry of Labour and Social Economy is the ministerial department of the Government of Spain responsible for proposing and executing state policy on employment, labor relations, and the social economy. It oversees workplace regulation, labor inspections, public employment services, and the promotion of cooperatives and worker-owned enterprises. Originally founded on May 8, 1920, under the government of Eduardo Dato, the department was restructured in 2020 to explicitly incorporate the social economy portfolio into its core mandate.
