Ministry of Science, Innovation and UniversitiesGovernment

The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities is the ministerial department of the Government of Spain responsible for the development and execution of national policy regarding scientific research, technological development, innovation, and higher education. Originally created as a dedicated portfolio in 1979 as the Ministry of Universities and Research, the department has historically been merged into and separated from the Ministry of Education across different administrations. It assumed its current comprehensive format in 2018 and was re-established in 2023 to reunite university administration with science and innovation policy.
