National Assembly of QuebecParliament

The National Assembly of Quebec is the unicameral legislative body of the Canadian province of Quebec, which together with the Lieutenant Governor forms the Parliament of Quebec. It holds the mandate to debate and pass provincial legislation, approve government budgets, and hold the provincial executive accountable. Tracing its origins to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada established under the Constitutional Act of 1791 and reconstituted at Canadian Confederation in 1867, it adopted its current name in 1968 upon abolishing its upper house, the Legislative Council.
