What it is
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Bulgaria is an independent national body responsible for organizing, supervising, and conducting elections and national referendums across the country. Established in its modern permanent institutional form in 2011 under a comprehensive Election Code, it replaced the previous practice dating back to 1990 of forming ad-hoc commissions for each election cycle. The commission ensures the uniform application of electoral legislation, oversees candidate registration, and tabulates and announces official election results.
