What it is

The Armed Forces of the Czech Republic is the national military organization responsible for defending the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutional order of the Czech Republic. Operating under the authority of the Ministry of Defence, its mandate includes fulfilling collective defense commitments under NATO and participating in international peacekeeping and humanitarian missions. Formed on January 1, 1993, following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the military joined NATO in 1999 and transitioned into a fully professional force in 2005.
