Czechia · founded 1990

What it is

The Brno City Assembly is the supreme representative and legislative self-governing body of the city of Brno, Czech Republic. Composed of 55 directly elected members, it is responsible for approving the municipal budget, issuing local ordinances, directing urban development, and electing the city council and mayor. Although municipal self-governance in Brno traces its roots back to 1243 when King Wenceslaus I granted the town royal privileges, the modern assembly was re-established in 1990 following the Velvet Revolution.
