What it is
The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic is a central government body responsible for public order, internal security, civil administration, and oversight of the national Police and Fire Rescue Service. While institutional administration of internal affairs traces back to the creation of Czechoslovakia in 1918, the modern Czech ministry was formally established on January 1, 1969, following Czechoslovak federalization under Act No. 2/1969 Coll. After the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, it transitioned into the primary internal affairs authority of the independent Czech Republic.
