What it is
The Municipality of Manternach is a local government authority situated in the canton of Grevenmacher in eastern Luxembourg. It is responsible for local public administration, spatial planning, infrastructure, and community services across the localities of Manternach, Berbourg, Lellig, and Münschecker. The modern municipality was established in 1795 following the annexation of the region during the French Revolutionary period and the creation of the Département des Forêts. Historically, the area contains some of the oldest settlement sites in the Syre Valley, with constituent settlements such as Berbourg documented as far back as 1231.
