Malta
What it is
The House of Representatives (Il-Kamra tad-Deputati) is the unicameral legislative parliament of the Republic of Malta. Operating under the Westminster parliamentary model, its mandate includes debating and enacting national legislation, approving government expenditure, scrutinizing the executive branch, and holding the Prime Minister and Cabinet accountable. Following the 1921 Amery-Milner Constitution that granted Malta self-government, a bicameral parliament was initially created, which later transitioned into the modern unicameral House of Representatives upon Malta gaining full independence in 1964.
