What it is
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia (Министерство за надворешни работи и надворешна трговија) is the cabinet-level executive department responsible for conducting the country's foreign policy and international economic diplomacy. Its mandate is to represent the state in diplomatic missions abroad, negotiate bilateral and multilateral agreements, manage NATO and European Union integration processes, and promote international trade and foreign direct investments. Originally established upon the nation's independence in 1991 as the Ministry of Foreign Relations, it was restructured and officially renamed in June 2024 to formally integrate external commerce and trade policy directly into the diplomatic service.
