Slovakia · founded 1993

What it is

The General Prosecutor's Office of the Slovak Republic is the central state authority presiding over the country's public prosecution system. Its constitutional mandate is to protect the rights and lawful interests of natural and legal persons as well as the state, primarily by overseeing criminal prosecutions and supervising adherence to the rule of law. Established in its sovereign form following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, the office underwent major democratic transformation away from the Soviet-era model of general legality supervision.
