What it is
The Government of the Slovak Republic is the supreme executive body of Slovakia, composed of the Prime Minister, deputy prime ministers, and cabinet ministers. It is responsible for implementing legislation, directing state administration, formulating domestic and foreign policies, and managing the state budget, while remaining accountable to the National Council. The contemporary institution was established on January 1, 1993, following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia, succeeding earlier regional executive bodies created under the 1969 Czechoslovak federation.
