What it is

The Ministry of Environment of the Slovak Republic is the central state administrative authority responsible for national environmental policy and ecological governance in Slovakia. Its mandate encompasses nature conservation, water resource management, air quality protection, waste disposal regulation, and climate change mitigation. Established in 1990 during Czechoslovakia's post-communist transition, the ministry became a core executive body of independent Slovakia in 1993 and was notably restored in late 2010 following a brief five-month abolition.
