The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is a ministerial department of the United Kingdom Government responsible for housing policy, urban planning, building safety, and local government administration in England. Originally established in 2006 as the Department for Communities and Local Government to succeed the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, it was first renamed MHCLG in 2018. After being rebranded as the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities in 2021, it officially restored the MHCLG name in July 2024.
