What it is
The UK-EEA EFTA Separation Agreement Joint Committee is an international bilateral governing body established between the United Kingdom and the three EEA EFTA states (Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway). Its mandate is to supervise the implementation, application, and monitoring of the UK–EEA EFTA Separation Agreement, ensuring that citizens' rights, residency, and social security protections are preserved following Brexit. Established pursuant to the separation treaty signed in January 2020, the committee meets regularly to resolve technical disputes, update legal annexes, and review compliance reports from independent monitoring authorities.
