What it is

The 26th District Agricultural Association (Amador County Fair Board) is a state institution operating under the California Department of Food and Agriculture's Division of Fairs and Expositions. Governed by a board of directors appointed by the Governor of California, its mandate is to manage the Amador County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, produce the annual county fair, and support local agricultural education, youth livestock programs, and community events in the Sierra Nevada foothills. First established in 1887 when the inaugural district agricultural fair was staged in Ione, the association permanently relocated its operations and fairgrounds to Plymouth in 1938, developing one of California's most cherished traditional Gold Country county fairs.
