What it is
The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) is the primary fiscal management and revenue administration agency of the State of Arkansas. Its mandate encompasses collecting state taxes, overseeing state budget formulation and accounting, administering driver and motor vehicle licensing, regulating alcoholic beverage control and medical marijuana, and supervising child support enforcement. The department was established in 1971 through Act 38 as part of a comprehensive executive branch reorganization under Governor Dale Bumpers, which merged the legacy Department of Revenues and several regulatory commissions into a single cabinet-level administrative body.
