What it is
The Bucksport Police Department is the primary municipal law enforcement agency responsible for public safety, crime prevention, and community policing in the coastal town of Bucksport in Hancock County, Maine. Its statutory mandate is to protect lives and property, enforce local municipal ordinances and Maine criminal and traffic statutes, and provide 24/7 patrol and emergency response across the town and along its Penobscot River waterfront. Organized municipal policing in the community evolved following the town's original incorporation as Buckstown by the Massachusetts General Court on June 27, 1792, growing from early town constables into a modern full-service department serving a historic industrial and maritime center.
