What it is
The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) is the largest business organization and advocacy association in Connecticut. It represents thousands of member companies ranging from small businesses to major corporations, lobbying state government to foster competitive economic and regulatory conditions. The organization traces its origins to 1815, when business leaders gathered in Middletown to protect local enterprise from post-War of 1812 import dumping. Over the decades, it evolved through mergers of manufacturing and trade groups to become the modern statewide commercial association.
