What it is

The Delaware General Assembly is the bicameral state legislature of the U.S. state of Delaware, consisting of the Senate and the House of Representatives. Responsible for enacting state laws, approving the state budget, and confirming gubernatorial appointments, it serves as the state's primary legislative body. Although representative governance in the region traces back to a separate colonial assembly established in 1704, the modern General Assembly was formally constituted following independence under the Delaware Constitution of 1776.
