What it is
The Executive Branch Ethics Commission is an independent regulatory agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky responsible for enforcing the state Executive Branch Code of Ethics (KRS Chapter 11A). Its mandate is to promote public integrity, investigate ethics violations and conflicts of interest among executive branch officials and employees, issue advisory opinions, and regulate executive agency lobbyists. Established by the Kentucky General Assembly in July 1992 as part of sweeping government ethics reforms following federal corruption investigations in the state, the five-member commission operates with autonomous administrative authority separate from gubernatorial control.
