What it is
The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights is the state government agency responsible for enforcing the Kentucky Civil Rights Act and preventing discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodations. Established by the Kentucky General Assembly in 1960 as an advisory body, it gained statutory enforcement authority following the passage of the landmark Kentucky Civil Rights Act in 1966. This made Kentucky the first state south of the Mason-Dixon line to enact and enforce a statewide civil rights law.
