What it is
The Missouri Interscholastic Athletic Oversight Commission is an independent state administrative appeals body operating within the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Governed by five members appointed by the Governor with Senate confirmation, its statutory mandate is to hear and issue final, binding determinations on appeals regarding student athletic transfer eligibility and competition rulings rendered by the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA). Established in 2026 under Senate Bill 863 (codified at Section 167.795 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri), the commission was created to establish external state oversight and due process protections for student-athletes and high school sports programs across Missouri.
