Montana Democratic PartyPolitical party

The Montana Democratic Party is the state-level affiliate of the national Democratic Party in Montana, responsible for recruiting, supporting, and electing Democratic candidates across local, state, and federal offices. It establishes the party's platform within the state and mobilizes voters around progressive and moderate policy initiatives. Formed around Montana's admission to statehood in 1889, the party saw its nominee Joseph K. Toole elected as Montana's first governor, and it later fostered prominent national figures like longtime U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield.
