What it is
The New York State Executive Chamber is the office and administrative apparatus of the Governor of New York, responsible for managing state operations, proposing policy and state budgets, and executing state laws. Established alongside the creation of the governorship under the first New York State Constitution in 1777, it was first led by Governor George Clinton. The Chamber's structure expanded significantly during Governor Al Smith's major state government reorganization in the 1920s.
