What it is
The Texas Early Learning Council is an advisory body within the state government of Texas serving as the state's advisory council on early childhood education and care. Its mandate is to promote school readiness and improve the quality, coordination, and accessibility of early care and learning services across the state. Established in late 2009 by Governor Rick Perry under the federal Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007, the council was later reauthorized by Governor Greg Abbott in 2019 to continue driving statewide early learning initiatives.
