What it is
The Texas Medical Board District Three Review Committee is a regional regulatory panel that assists the Texas Medical Board in enforcing the Medical Practice Act within its designated geographic district. Appointed by the Governor of Texas, the committee is mandated to evaluate standard-of-care complaints against licensed physicians, assess professional competence, and conduct informal settlement conferences. District Review Committees were originally created by the Texas Legislature under the Texas Medical Liability and Insurance Improvement Act of 1977 to review local malpractice claims and peer review reports, before later being reorganized through Sunset legislation and codified into Chapter 163 of the Texas Occupations Code in 1999.
