What it is
The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees is the official governing body of the University of Kentucky, a public land-grant research university in the United States. It is responsible for setting academic policies, overseeing institutional finances, managing property, and appointing the university president. Established alongside the institution in 1865 under the federal Morrill Land-Grant Act, its governance evolved as the institution separated from Kentucky University in 1878 to become an independent state college. In 1939, Georgia M. Blazer made history by becoming the board's first female trustee.
