What it is
The Eastern High Court (Østre Landsret) is one of Denmark's two high courts, primarily serving as an appellate court for civil and criminal cases originating from district courts in eastern Denmark and the Faroe Islands. Established in 1919 pursuant to the Administration of Justice Act, it replaced earlier regional appellate bodies including the Landsoverret for eastern Denmark. Headquartered in Copenhagen, the court also exercises original jurisdiction over select administrative and public law disputes.
