Royal House of DenmarkGovernment

The Royal House of Denmark is the dynastic family comprising the monarch and immediate relatives who represent the Kingdom of Denmark. As a constitutional monarchy, the institution serves a predominantly ceremonial and unifying role as head of state, formally appointing governments and representing the nation domestically and abroad. Tracing its origins back to Gorm the Old in the 10th century, it is one of the oldest continuous monarchies in the world and transitioned from absolute rule to a constitutional system with the Constitution of 1849.
